【摘要】:Shrinkageofasealant,afterapplicationinabuildingjoint,iscausedbylossofvolatilecomponentsfromthesealant.Thislossresultsinadecreaseinvolumeand,hence,achangeinthesealant''sshape.Thischangeinshape,insomeapplications,shouldbetakenintoconsiderationforacceptablejointappearanceandgeometry.Theshrinkagevalueobtainedbythistestmethodhelpspredicttheappearanceandgeometryofthecuredsealantinabuildingjointandishelpfulindeterminingtheamountandtypeoftoolingtobedoneduringinstallationofthesealant.Latexsealantscureprimarilythroughwaterevaporation.Theymayalsocontainsmallamountsofothervolatilecomponents.However,inthistestmethodallvolatilesaretreatedaswater.Thisassumptionstillprovidesameaningfulshrinkagevaluesincethesmallquantitiesofothervolatilesandtheirdifferencesindensityfromthatofwaterdonotsignificantlyaffecttheusefulnessoftheresultobtained.1.1Thistestmethodcoversalaboratoryprocedurefordeterminingvolumeshrinkage,whichoccursduringcure,ofalatexsealant.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;ArelatedISOstandardisISO10563.Theusershouldcomparetodeterminehowitdiffersfromthistestmethod.
